Pass The Salt Please

Salt...Now there is alot of history.

Did you know?

-It is an essential element in the diet of not only humans but of animals, and even of many plants. It is one of the most effective and most widely used of all food preservatives (and used to preserve Egyptian mummies as well).

-Salt also had military significance. For instance, it is recorded that thousands of Napoleon's troops died during his retreat from Moscow because their wounds would not heal as a result of a lack of salt.

-Roman soldiers were paid “salt money”, salarium argentum, from which we take our English word, “salary”.

These are just a few fascinating facts about salt...

Who knew?

Jesus talks about salt in Matthew 5:13 "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men."

He calls us to be the salt of the earth...

How you ask?

By being living examples of him.

Examples:

-A friend calls you don't want to answer the phone knowing the only thing she will have to say is how everything is going so wrong in her life....answer the phone give her encouragement....Pass The Salt.

-A person behind you in the store stands with only a few things, you are in a hurry to get home and have stood in line for a very long time....only to smile and say "go ahead in front of me." Pass The Salt.

-Stop and see the elderly or shut In's...Pass The Salt

-Listen when your children speak...Pass The Salt.

God has called us to be the salt of the earth, some days are harder than others to put that into practice but remember a little salt goes a long way.

So won't you please Pass The Salt.

Blessings
M
