Blessed would be the word that comes to mind...
Actually it has been on my mind all day.
Sunday morning I woke up to a text message from WBKO a local news station, we were under a tornado watch, within 30 min. that watch went to a Warning and we loaded up to go to my parents house (we live in a mobile home) after waiting the storm out we returned home to get ready for church, as we got closer to town I realized that they had received damage with various roof damage and no electricity...
So we had church in the dark..(not total dark there were emergency lights)
It was a really good service by the way.
Then the rain started, I knew the creek was up when we left home but I was shocked at how fast it had risen while we were in church, so much so that my Parents, Sister, Brother-In-Law and nephew were all stuck at my house, they wouldn't allow anyone into Marrowbone because water was over the road.
I'll be honest as I watched the news and the water rise outside my kitchen window my stress level grew greater with each passing hour.
So while my children ran about with a touch of nervous energy and my Sister paced the floors and Tony and Daddy stood on the porch I began to pray...
I prayed Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God."
So that's just what I did...I began praying for a wall of protection around our home, and with each passing hour I prayed harder.
At one point one of my children said "Mom aren't you afraid! Our house is gonna get washed away!"
What did I almost say? "Uh, YEAH!"
But I Looked straight at my Husband and said "No, because I have be praying that God put a wall of protection around our home, and I believe that is what he will do."
Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."
When 8pm rolled around and the water was almost to the house, my faith was a little strained...
When My Dad and Husband said "Start packing bags." the stress level went up.
When they started talking about setting furniture up off the floor, my anxiety started to rise.
As I drove away from my house looking in the rear view mirror at my Dad and Husband standing in the rain.. I was on the verge of breakdown.
At around 10:00 the water stopped rising...My Husband said it got to the porch..
Right to the edge...
And it stopped.
Like some kinda wall just stopped it. (grin)
Then it started going down moving away from the house...
We were able to load up and go home..not really home, home, to my parents home..Just because my Dad said he wouldn't be able to sleep if we didn't come there for the night..
I think after we got there he probably thought he had a moment of insanity (grin) Husband , myself, 4 kids and good ol' Pete (our Chocolate Lab)
Poor Pop and Nana what would we do without them?
And God? Well, I'm most certain without him I would be writing a post about a flooded house..
No doubt in my mind he stopped the water from rising!!
I put a few new pictures some were from last night right before we left home and the other are from today..just so you can get an idea of how much water was around us.
God is GOOD! Thank you for all the prayers that went up on our behalf!
Blessings.

Oh my goodness. Oh the goodness of the Lord. I have cried over this post. Praise the Lord. I am thinking about the song, "I know my Redeemer lives." The words say, Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning?
And who told the ocean you can only come this far?
And who showed the moon where to hide till evening?
Whose words alone can catch a falling star?
Chorus:
Well I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
All of creation testifies
This life within me cries
I know my Redeemer lives
Ye-e-eah
The very same God
That spins things in orbit
Runs to the weary, the worn and the weak
And the same gentle hands that hold me when I'm broken
They conquered death to bring me victory
And who told the water, to stop at your porch? Well, I know, my redeemer lives, and he showed himself strong on your behalf.
Blessings to you.
