Inauguration

All morning as many of you I have been glued to the T.V. to watch our 44th President Barack Obama be sworn in. I had to be at work by 10:00 this morning and after I finished cutting my client's hair and checked her out, I rushed to my computer to find live coverage and as I watched I was amazed at the crowds of people, people anticipating the making of history...many would want to get into the debate of is he the right one for the job, and this would be my answer...I believe God has placed him there, if he didn't intend for him to be there he would have put someone else there. I didn't vote for him, but I trust the God I serve and he put him there, he is my President, the leader of this great Nation we live in...This morning as I listened to his speech after being sworn in the screen would go to people in different areas school children, listening intently, military personnel watching with tears in their eyes people of every color and background listening with a new sense of hope..it was very emotional..So saying all that, this is my challenge to you, remember to pray daily for President Obama, pray that God will give him wisdom and direction, pray that the Holy Spirit speaks to him and that he will listen, be a good example to your children, teach them to have respect for our President...(They're little ears hear more than you think and they will walk as you lead them) After the election I had a conversation with my middle son Chase, he was upset because President Obama won. I said "Why are you so upset?" and he replied "because Mom that's not who you voted for." to witch I replied "yes, but that's who God put there and I think he knows best, now we just have to pray God gives him wisdom to lead this Country." And with that he walked away and said "o.k." So take a step everyday to pause and pray for our leaders they have many decisions to make and enormous pressure, pray that God will give them peace and wisdom.

I'll deal with it..please send me no more!

It started out just like any other day at the salon, I was proud of myself for getting to work a little early, and set down to check my appointment book for the day, my co-worker had already started on her first client and in walks one of my clients (a sweet elderly lady...) I quickly check my book knowing I had put her down for the next day..she was a day early. I greet her politely try to explain (while picking up her change from the floor she dropped when she came in) that she was a day early, when I am greeted with her purse flying across the room and choice words fallowing...did I argue you ask? No I told her I would fit her in to go to the chair so we could start I worked quickly to try and stay on secdual the salon was beginning to fill up and as I turned her around to face the mirror....

Me: So how does that look? (To me it looks the same way it has the last 20 time I've done your hair)

Sweet elderly lady: It looks terrible! That's the biggest mess I've ever seen!

Me: (speechless)

Sweet elderly lady: I DO NOT LIKE IT!!

Me: What don't you like about it? Maybe we need to trim the top a little?

Sweet elderly lady: You need to do something to it or get me a paper bag!

Me: (Thinking in my head: She DID NOT JUST SAY THAT!) o.k. we'll trim it.

Sweet elderly lady: ha! Ha! Ha! (in a strange kinda I'm being creepy laugh)

Me: Whats so funny?

Sweet elderly lady: NOTHING!!

So I finish "Sweet elderly lady's hair give her a little squirt of spray and she is "still not crazy about it" in a it'll do kinda way...walks to the desk pays me and says, "Now I want to make an appointment next week for a shampoo and style."

WHAT THE HECK??!!

Yes I made her an appointment for next week, for I couldn't help myself....Our Pastor always says "Learn to deal with "Those People" in your life, cause if you don't God will send you 10 more just like them..I'll deal with it ..PLEASE send me no more!

Moral to story..Be kind to your hairdressers, they love you, they listen, they make you beautiful and sometimes they even let you throw purses at them..(grin)we know your life story and watch your children grow up we fix the "OH MY GOSH, MY DAUGHTER HAS CUT HER OWN HAIR" we do mohawks, we do hot pink hair ,we do prom hair we do wedding hair and someday when you die...Guess who?? We do that too...Be gentle and kind take time to tell your hairdresser today that you appreciate her,,,There now I feel much better!

Snow and Sniffles

O.k. I know my title says "Snow and Sniffles" I don't see any snow but they say we will get some, and it is really cold 21 to be exact...and the sniffles that would be husband, he is feeling quite under the weather. I didn't get home until 7:30 and still had supper to make the kids wanted spaghetti and I wanted a chicken salad sandwich and pasta salad (new recipe my sister made and it rocks so of coarse I had to make myself some) anywho, Husband was very quiet when I came in he was pretty much comatose (but still slightly with one eye open watching T.V.) when I popped my head in the room to announce I was home, and away I went (now 8pm) to cook supper, but I knew something was up when Cassie Marie said "Tony's not hungry, he said he doesn't want anything to eat." O.K. so for all you out there in blogger land, Husband always eats supper, so I knew he was feeling bad...fast forward past all children taking baths one right after the other therefore using ALL hot water, and only cold water for me, and Chad Allen announcing (at 10pm) he has no clean jeans for school tomorrow, and bubbles the psychotic hamster escaping from his cage (anyone out there want a hamster, he's free??) and the toilet stopping up in the boys bathroom (I won't go there) I finally retreated to my room to set down and enter blog land and I hear

Husband: "Honey, could you turn the heat up? I'm Freezing.

Me: The heat is up (thinking in my head I'm sweating)

Then I feel bad and walk to the bed to feel his forehead and he has a fever so I give him ibuprofen turn the heat up and return to my computer.....5min. later..

Husband: "honey could you please turn that heat down I'm burning up."

Me: sure..

5min later Husband gets out of the bed and heads for the kitchen, with slight limp and pitiful look on face..

Me: where are you going?

Husband: to get something to eat.

He took to bites of spaghetti and has now went back into comatose state poor thing maybe he will feel better in the morning...

The Storms

I just wanted to share with you one of my favorite devotions by Max Lucado I went back and reread it tonight and how true it is....

Their Question- What hope do we have of surviving a stormy night?
My Question- Where is God when his world is stormy?
Turbulent days when the enemy is too big, the task to great, the future to bleak, and the answers to few...The light came for the disciples. A figure came to them walking on water, it wasn't what they expected. Perhaps they were looking for angels to descend or heaven to open. Maybe they were listening for a divine proclamation to still the storm. We don't know what they were looking for but one thing is for sure, they weren't looking for Jesus to come walking on water...and since Jesus came in a way they didn't expect, they almost missed seeing the answer to their prayers.
An unless we look, and listen closely, we risk making the same mistake. God's lights in our dark nights are as numerous as the stars, if only we look for them.
"When Jesus comes," we doubters think, "all pain will flee. Life will be tranquil. No questions will remain."
And because we look for the bonfire, we miss the candle. Because we listen for the shout, we miss the whisper.
But it is in burnished candles that God comes, and through whispered promises he speaks: "When you doubt, look around; I am closer than you think."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So here is what God has been showing me: We all have storms and it is human nature to panic, complain ect...i have been on that merry-go-round this past week and I must say it hasn't been fun, and today at church the message was on trusting God..I had to get real with myself and say "O.k. God I know I'm not trusting you with it all, and I know I have to." so I came home and reread this devotion and it reminded me of how often I look for the bonfires and listen for the shouts, and while I'm busy looking and listening for all the bells and whistles I am missing what God is trying to show me...Storms in life aren't fun, some people have walked away from God because of them, word of advice: that's the easy way out....choose to praise him in the storm look for the candles and listen for the whispers, he's there..praise him and wait he IS closer than you think.

No longer in denial...

O.K. so I have been a little under the weather the past few weeks, feeling a little (lot) tired and a having a continuous headache, spent most of my days off work in a "sloth like state" thinking that I had a bug with a little extra stress from the holidays:) But New Years Eve night I developed the MEGA HEADACHE I thought the top of my head was gonna explode!! It was so bad that at precisely 11:55pm I was hugging the commode Yes...this is how I rang in the new year..as I exited the bathroom, poor Husband in a soft voice said "Happy New Year Honey"
So I worked all day Friday with a dull throb in the top of my head. Mom brought the blood pressure thingy to check my blood pressure and guess what? It was up, by the end of the day it was 168/107...sooo Husband and I have been to the Doctor today and I am officially no longer in denial...my blood pressure is high and they have put me on medicine let me share a little bit of the conversation I had with the Doctor today:

Doctor: Take your Medicine the same time everyday, no salt, try to cut the caffeine and we need to see you in a few weeks to check your cholesterol

Me: o.k.

Doctor: try not to get stressed, and exercises walking is good..that would help (pause in his voice) Hey don't you own the gym in Marrowbone?

Husband: (hand to face trying not to laugh)

Me: (head hung in shame) well I'm the hairdresser (next door) my Sister and Mom run the gym..

Doctor: Well, maybe you should take some time a few days a week and walk on the tread mill, that would really help with your blood pressure

So as we left the building I told my Husband "How lazy am I? I have a Gym 5 steps away and I don't even go, guess I have a good reason now." Husband never responded..He is a smart man!

Anywho, I'm no longer in denial Mom, Yes I'll take my medicine and try to take better care of myself I guess you and Sister better get my old dusty file out..looks like I will be back at the gym soon!
